- Got Tom Heaton's old PC and installed FreeBSD unix on it so that it can
function as a X windows workstation, since the Tejon VAXstation has moved
across the street.
- There was a strange problem with several nodes in the cluster losing
access to some of the disks. Rebooting the problem nodes fixed this.
- Set up an account for Steve Bryant on one of the development machines.
- Attended the USGS staff meeting, and also the Timers meeting.
- Received replacements for the new 9GB disks that were logging errors. We
placed one of them onto Tejon for use in data acquisition, and it appears
to be functioning properly.
- Moved the USER01 disk onto Bigone. This ended up causing some SCSI bus
problems which required rebooting the system to remove the disk.
- Made preparations to swap out the remaining Inmac four-port transceiver
in the computer room. The two machines attached to it are logging a large
number of Ethernet errors.
- Created a new system disk for use on BBEAR. With Mojave going awawy,
BBEAR will be set up as a boot node to maintain the cluster with three
independent boot nodes.
- Swapped the Inmac transceiver that was logging errors.
- Set up a test queue for printing postscript to the new HP large-format
plotter.
- Attended the USGS staff meeting.
- Set up a new workstation to take the place of Tejon, now that Tejon is
doing data acquisition.
- Resolved several problems involving SCSI bus problems.
- Replaced a failing ethernet transceiver.
- Received and installed replacements for the two new 9GB disks that were
logging errors.
- Created a new system disk and set up BBEAR as an independent boot node in
the cluster.
- Continued testing the new HP plotter, and assisted users in sending plots
to it.
