- Did some more testing with the MEM files produced from Anza data.
- Rebooted Cajon and Lander. Lander has been changed to boot off of Bbear,
rather than Cajon.
- Cleaned up the expired licenses in the CSLG software license database.
- Did some more research on allowable Ethernet configurations in
preparation for segmenting our network.
- Backed up and restored the disk on Coso to defragment it and allow for
increasing the page file size.
- Moved the Anza listener program to a directory under the main CUSP tree
and also set up standard start and stop procedures for it.
- Went on vacation starting Thursday, 5/9 until Monday, 5/20.
- Dug through a ten-day backlog of email.
- Attempted to install UCX 4.0A on Carizo so that Bob and Allan could
experiment with using it instead of Multinet for TCP/IP data transfer. It
turned out that 4.0A was not compatible with our present VMS version, so
Allan got the 4.0 distribution from Menlo Park. We are currently running
the 4.0 version.
- Added an account on Bigone for John Galetzka. Also added him to paging.
- Rebuilt Mosaic on Carizo, since replacing Multinet broke it.
- Got the CD distribution for a newer version of DEC C for Carizo.
- Bob experienced a second occurrance of the file protection problem that
Nick had last month.
- Called R-squared to get price quotes for some new DAT drives. If we
replace the three DAT drives on Tejon with higher density drives, the
analysts will not have to come in over weekends to change Squirrel tapes.
- Installed an upgrade to the C compiler on Carizo.
- There was a problem with the MEM04 disk on Avalon. The disk ran out of
file headers due to fragmentation of the INDEXF master file. The fix for
this was to do a full backup and restore of the disk to defragment the file
headers.
- Installed the new CSLG software licenses on all the VMS machines.
***
- Cleaned up and updated the software license databases on the VAXes.
- Moved Lander to boot as a satellite of Bbear, rather than Cajon.
- Moved the Anza data receiver program into the CUSP directory tree.
- Installed UCX 4.0 on Carizo for testing. This is the DEC version of TCP/
IP services for VMS, replacing Multinet.
