- There was a problem with email to China Lake backed up in the SMTP queue
on Tejon. After they cleared a problem at their end we were able to resend
the mail.
- Backed up the Anza data on Carizo to tape in order to make more room on
the disk.
- There was a problem with UCX NFS and the disks on the SCEC jukebox.
Restarting UCX cleared the problem.
- MECCA developed a problem with its keyboard, so the keyboard was swapped
for another one.
- There were some problems with data acquisition on Tejon. After analyzing
system performance data, it became clear that this was caused by having
too much I/O activity on a single disk. Tejon was reconfigured with an
additional disk to reduce the bottleneck.
- Cleaned up the system disk on Bigone.
- Got a Motif patch for Bigone and a new version of Netscape for the Alpha
machines.
- There was a problem with one of the Sun machines consuming the entire
network bandwidth on the Thickwire Ethernet segment. This caused
performance problems on all of the computers on this segment. This turned
out to have been caused by a data-moving job that Blair was running.
- The China Lake mail problem occurred again when their mail receiver
system crashed before Christmas day.

- Analysis of system performance data showed that the performance problems
on Tejon were the result of having all I/O going to a single disk.
Reconfiguring with additional disks alleviated the problem.
- The UCX NFS client had problems that appear to come on after it has been
running for several weeks, and must be cleared by restarting it.
