- Set up periodic disk space and error status checking on Carizo and Tejon.
- Carizo hung on Wednesday.
- Did some research on Alpha system hang problems and got a pointer to a
patch for the disk drivers for VMS that is supposed to fix this. Installed
this on Carizo on Friday.
- Set up user accounts on Ojai.
- Restored the old Mojave system for use in reading the 1983 tapes.
- Installed UCX version 4.1 on Wwolf, Carizo, and Ojai.
- Assisted in resolving a software license problem on the Varian system in
Parkfield.
- Restored a directory full of 1983 data off of backups for Nick.
- Finished setting up Mojave for reading the 1983 tapes.
- Installed Plotlib on Wwolf.
- Assisted the UNR staff in replacing a failing disk on their CUSP system.
- Installed the SCSI disk driver software patch on Ridge.
- Installed UCX 4.1 on Bigone.
- Resolved a few minor problems to allow Rosalie to begin reading the 1983
tapes.
- Bigone's mail connection to the Internet had some problems over the
weekend that turned out to be caused by a bug in the new version of UCX.
Installed a patch to fix this.
- Installed several operating system patches on Carizo in an attempt to fix
the system hang problem. The problem still occurs, but apparently the SCSI
driver patch made it less frequent.
- Began attempting to read old CEDAR data and backup tapes from 1977.
Amazingly enough, most of these tapes still read without errors.

- Got Mojave set up so that the timers can continue work on the 1983 data.
- Investigated the repeated system hangs on Carizo.
