- Had a problem putting a tape drive on WWOLF. This was ultimately traced
to a bent pin on the SCSI cable.
- Installed UCX V4.1 and the latest patch revision to this version on Tejon.
- The UPS unit in S. Mudd had a problem that cut off all computer power for
several seconds on Tuesday. This crashed all systems.
- Assisted Wil Tanigawa at HVO with a disk install.
- Worked with Bob to try and diagnose the problem of Carizo occasionally
hanging.
- Worked with Steve Bryant to put together an order for four new DAT drives
to replace the drives that have died recently.
- Got a quote for Process Software's TCPware product as a possible
replacement for UCX.
- There was another glitch from the S. Mudd UPS that crashed all the
systems again.
- Installed two of the new tape drives.
- Got two hand-me-down disk drives from Rob Clayton.
- Installed the third new tape drive. It appears not to work properly.
- Set up a periodic system monitor on Carizo to try to catch the next
system hang for better analysis.
- Attended the CCO presentation on the future of the CIT campus computer
network.
- Got four more hand-me-down disks.
- Installed Polycenter Data Collector/Performance Advisor on Carizo to
collect system performance data for tuning purposes.
- Assisted Debbie with NFS for the 1983 data transfer.
- Set up a test account for reading the 1983 tapes.

- Investigated the repeated system hangs on Carizo and found evidence that
SCARAB may be consuming the system in an infinte loop.
- Got the 1983 data transfer working.
- Got four new DAT drives. One of the four was apparently bad and was sent
back to the vendor.
