- Malibu was having problems with extreme slowness when running the *
commands that were recently implemented in Timit. These processes put a
lot of strain on system resources. The fix for this was to defragment the
disk attached to Malibu and build a large pagefile on it for the system to
use. Then the SYSGEN parameters were adjusted to increase the virtual
memory available on the system.
- The Hot disk on Carizo went bad on Sunday morning. Doug built a new hot
directory on another disk and was able to restart the online system. On
Monday, we rebooted Carizo and removed the failed disk. According to the
serial number checker on the Seagate web site, it is still under warranty,
so we sent it back to Seagate for replacement.
- Assisted Nick in recovering some files from the final backup of the
failed hot disk.

to use in for updating the Trinet pages in the future.

- The tape drive in the USGS Web Server developed a problem. Power cycle
fixed it.
- Figured out the proper sequence of incantations to get Spring to boot and
run off of the RAID disks. After running like this for a day, it was put
back to boot off the old disks while its new configuration is set up.
- Malibu crashed twice during the week. At the end of the week, it was
taken down and all internal connections were reseated to try and fix the
problem.
- Wrote a shell script to automatically update Kate's earthquake commentary
page, as well as the earthquake reports page on trinet.org.

as a terminal port.
- Got the serial port on Sylmar working

a script for her to use to update them.

system with a different directory for Hot, and the disk was replaced by
Seagate under warranty.
- Figured out how to get Spring to boot and run off of the RAID.

multicast packets to it.
