- Installed Xfig on Iron for Vince to use in documenting his work on shake
map.
- Added memory to Merlin.
- Installed Wacke in the telemetry room rack and hooked it up to the
WaveNet.
- Research into new tape drives to be used for VMS backups.
- Got Majordomo working on Ehzsouth. This will be used to set up mail
distribution lists for earthquake notification.
- Disconnected the 9-track tape drives to prepare them to be moved down to
the basement.
- The old Cajon MicroVAX gave up the ghost on Tuesday. One of the old
VAXstation 3100s became the new Cajon, which will continue to perform
backups for the VAXcluster.
- Called Sun about a replacement for the main power supply cooling fan for
Spring, as the system console messages say that it is failing.
- Had some problems with the NFS mounted jukebox disks on Bigone.
Ultimately, the system had to be rebooted to clear the NFS client problems.
- Installed Solaris on Air and Water. Air is planned to be the system
which will do shake map calculations, and Water is planned to be the TriNet
system console.
- Cooked chicken and burgers at the lunchtime office barbeque for Pat
Muffler.
- Built a copy of the Elm mailer for Iron. There has been requests for a
text-based mailer that can be used over a dialup connection.
- Installed a 1GB memory upgrade in Spring.

- Built two new Solaris machines for TriNet. Air and Water. Since the
main server for the department it Earth, all we need is Fire to have all
four ancient elements.
- Got Majordomo working for serving mailing lists.
