- Helped Nick with updating the weekly commentary on the Trinet web site.
- Got alphanumeric paging working with the Big Brother system monitoring
package.
- Read in a tape of old Joshua Tree aftershock data for Sue Hough.
- Changed node name 'tin' to 'stannum' to fix a name confusion problem with
a seismic station of the same name.
- Helped Gary and Chuck diagnose a problem with SLIP station GLA.

the phone number for a contact at Airtouch to tell them about the problem.
- All of the Solaris systems were attacked between 21:20 and 21:50 on Friday
night. Big Brother detected some problems right away, so the breakin was
diagnosed and fixed within 24 hours.
- Andataco came out and populated the RAID on spring with 18GB disks,
replacing the 9GB disks that were originally in it. After formatting,
data was restored from backups.
- Got patch number 105802-07 from Sun to fix the weakness that was used in
Friday night's breakin.
- Carizo died on Thursday morning, apparently with a bad disk. Power
cycling fixed it. Bob got a new disk from Fry's to replace the one that
had failed.
- Carizo failed again on Friday morning. A call was placed to field
service, as it appears now that they SCSI controller in the computer is the
part that is failing.
- Tejon died at 07:20 on Saturday. For some unknown reason, it hung during
reboot. Came in and reset it to get it to boot again.
- Kate found a bug in the web-page-based paging system. Added a line to
the script to strip out extraneous newline characters from the page text
string.
- Primo from Compaq field service came out and replaced the I/O board in

internal web page.

to work. Testing showed that the problem was a bad SCSI cable. Andataco
sent someone over with a replacement.
- Partitioned and built filesystems on the new HA RAID disks.
- One of the disks on the new HA RAID had an error light. Got instructions
from Andataco on replacing it with one of the cold spares.

This RAID is supposed to become the system disk, but it is not currently
being used.
- Finished installing the Big Brother client on the TriNet development
machines.
